Training: University at Buffalo (candidate for Master of Social Work), Ithaca College (Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies; self-designed major with a focus on Psychology, Sociology, Religious Studies, and Creative Nonfiction)
Katie Marks (she/her) is in her advanced year at the University at Buffalo School of Social Work. She also holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College. She has almost 20 years of experience working with college students, faculty, and staff in her role as an assistant professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College. One of her greatest joys is supporting people as they put words to experience and arrive at new insights, which is something she looks forward to deepening in her work with clients at MindWell. She is drawn to working with adults from diverse backgrounds and is particularly interested in holding space for people as they navigate anxiety, depression, sleep challenges, perfectionism, creative blocks, relationship issues, decision-making, and change. Katie seeks to foster a collaborative, trauma-informed, person-centered practice. She primarily draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Beyond the world of MindWell, Katie enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and two cats. She is always trying to learn something new.
