Alyssa Miville (she/her/hers) is a Clinical Psychology PhD Candidate who has experience working with couples, families, and adults of all ages. Drawing from a person-centered and humanistic approach in her work with clients, she often encourages a collaborative relationship in the therapy room and helps clients achieve their goals by focusing on strengths and areas of support. She is also skilled in delivering and integrating other evidence-based techniques and therapies, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which helps her clients to both accept what cannot be changed and to create meaningful change where possible. Alyssa has experience working with clients from various socioeconomic and cultural and is committed to operating through a trauma-informed lens and within a liberation framework. Outside of her areas of experience, Alyssa specializes in helping clients work through adverse religious experiences, spiritual struggles, relationship distress, concerns around sexual intimacy, and gender identity concerns.
Before joining the team at MindWell, Alyssa completed a community mental health externship at the Institute for Child Development in Binghamton, NY, where she served as the project coordinator and primary group facilitator for numerous therapeutic social skills groups for autistic young adults in upstate New York. Prior to this, she was matched to and completed a fellowship at a city-center church in Pittsburgh, PA, where she provided marital counseling for couples and delivered trauma-informed crisis interventions to clients experiencing homelessness and other mental health challenges. In addition to her work at MindWell, Alyssa currently sees couples and individuals through the Binghamton University Psychological Clinic. When she is not working, Alyssa enjoys ballroom dancing, bullet journaling, creating videos, and curating playlists.
