Abimaelle (Abie - She/Her) is a dedicated and curious Haitian-American Social Worker who takes pride in creating spaces where others feel seen, heard, and accepted. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Binghamton University and has experience working in a University Counseling Center, a Domestic Violence Clinic, and an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
Abie is deeply aware of how one’s positionality in society can make them susceptible to injustice, and she is committed to providing a safe environment where clients can explore themselves and be their authentic selves. Her counseling approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, incorporating interventions from CBT, DBT, Emotions-Focused, Attachment, and Psychodynamic theories. Abie has a special interest in working with young adults and adults who face challenges with Anxiety, Depression, Identity (including cultural identity), Self-Esteem, and Interpersonal issues. She also has experience working with survivors of trauma (including Adverse Childhood Experiences), and those who struggle with Substance Use Disorders. Abie is intentional about being compassionate and strengths-based in her sessions, recognizing that clients are the experts of their own experiences and have the agency to create change in their lives.
Outside of work, Abie enjoys dancing, journaling, hiking, and spending quality time with her loved ones.
